BEMIDJI, MN (nomadnews.i234.me) – In a tragic turn of events, two individuals have been implicated in the third-degree murder charges related to the fatal fentanyl overdose of a one-and-a-half-year-old child in Bemidji on New Year’s Eve of 2022.

Lakeisha Chaboyea, the mother of the deceased child, had already been convicted of second-degree manslaughter and is currently serving a 41-month prison sentence.

The child was discovered unresponsive at a residence on 2510 It Loop Northwest in Bemidji and subsequently passed away on January 4th, 2023, at a Fargo Hospital due to fentanyl toxicity. The death was ruled as a homicide after it was determined that the child had come into contact with fentanyl residue on a piece of tin foil found in the garbage.

Now, Jesse Millan of Elk River and Katrina Oakgrove of Minneapolis are facing third-degree murder charges for their alleged involvement in supplying the fentanyl. Notably, the accused pair is already entangled in federal charges for drug distribution in Red Lake and Beltrami counties the previous year.
